I am a child of Abraham.
When God said Abraham’s descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky, He knew I would be one of those stars. This makes my heart leap for joy, because it’s evidence that God’s heart has always beat for all of creation. When he spoke to Abraham (the man whose lineage would bring Jesus to Earth), God planned for mass adoption in the spiritual realm.
In this beauty, I can’t help but to consider God’s wonder in all of creation. Scientists say the universe continues to expand. Maybe the universe is expanding to make room for more stars? Just as God keeps making room for more sons and daughters in His family from every tribe, tongue, and nation.
I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed.Genesis 26:4
Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.Galatians 3:7-9
About the Series
Adam Narciso published a devotional called New Identity, exploring 30 aspects of our new identity when we become wholehearted followers of Jesus. I am creating artwork about the new identity Christians have and I hope it encourages you. This first piece is about our new identity as children of Abraham.
